Fees are generally $35 but fines can range as high as $1,000<\/li><li>SR-22 certificate required for two years (we\u2019ll cover this in detail in a later section)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The severity of the penalties listed above depend on how many previous offenses you have on your driving record.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Penalty for First Offense<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>After your first offense of driving in Arizona without insurance, you\u2019ll most likely be fined $500 and have your license, registration, and license plates suspended for a period of three months. Upon the end of this three month period, you\u2019ll have to pay a $35 fee to reinstate them on top of your fine. You\u2019ll also be required to hold an SR-22 certificate for two years (see the section below for details).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Penalty for Third Offenses and Subsequent Offenses<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>After your second offense of driving in Arizona without insurance, you\u2019ll most likely be fined $1,000 and have your license, registration, and license plates suspended for a period of twelve months. Upon the end of this twelve month period, you\u2019ll have to pay a $35 fee to reinstate them on top of your fine. You\u2019ll also be required to hold an SR-22 certificate for two years (see the section below for details).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What is SR-22 Insurance?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>An <a href=\"https:\/\/freedomgeneral.com\/sr-22s\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">SR-22<\/a> consists of a form submitted to the DMV through your insurer in order to communicate that your current insurance meets Arizona\u2019s state requirements. After a conviction of driving without insurance, you may be required to have an SR-22 certificate on file for a period of up to two years.
